Misconceptions about Botox
Myths about Botox
Last year some Italian researchers reported that Botox can have disastrous effects, namely in the fact that Botox can migrate and effect cells far away from the point of injection. This experiment was performed on mice, where they noticed that the connections on nerve cells were broken down, and neurotransmitters were effected along the path it migrated. Neurotransmitters are located in the brain, and hence the headlines around the world saying that Botox can effect your wrinkles, aswell as your brain. Where this experiment has failed is the fact that the Italian reserarchers used different types of botox on the mice, including ones not approved for human use. There are 7 different types of botox, and only one of these is approved for use on humans. These researchers used all 7 different types of Botox on the mice, at the same time, and injected them in the face. As you can also imagine the distance between the brain and the facial tissues of a mouse are significantly different to that of a human. It is also reported that the doses used on these mice was significantly large compared to the weight of the animals.
